I am so happy that Iraq war veteran J.R. Martinez is the new ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 13 champ. Although I am a not a loyal fan of the show, I do manage to keep tabs on the contestants and their progress. After watching the recap of Monday night, there was only one winner in my mind that could be crowned. It was J.R. Martinez. My heart went out to him for his dancing and his grace.
It was a smart move for DWTS to cast a war veteran that has overcome so many odds already with the burns he suffered during the war. Brilliant PR stunt that worked, only because J.R. Martinez is so special.
The 28-year-old actor and motivational speaker radiated joy each week to the 18 million viewers that tune in to the show. This Iraq war veteran’s story: J.R. Martinez was severely burned over more than 40 percent of his body when the Humvee he was driving for the U.S. Army struck a land mine. He underwent numerous surgeries over years of recovery.
I salute you J.R. Martinez for being the courageous person that you are and for being a great role model. Looking you, listening to you, really takes away any excuses about not being able to accomplish a goal. You prove this day in and day out each morning when you wake up. You are an inspiration. Thanks for being you.
All of the contestants last night were GREAT performers. Rob Kardashian really proved that he has what it takes when he puts his mind to it. His dancing was flawless. Rikki Lake will always treasure her time on DWTS, since she is almost half the size that she started the show on. Her stamina, determination and “can-do” spirit, was so inspiring and refreshing. I am glad for her new second career that is about to launch.
The professional dancers were all great as usual. It is my goal to one day learn Ballroom Dancing. It seems so fun and exhilarating. It is also an excellent form of exercise for weight loss, as Rikki Lake and Kirstie Ally have both displayed.
