We recently lost one of my favorite designers, Kate Spade. I am saddened by the loss of such an extraordinary visionary and outstanding designer. She brought so much joy to my life and the life of so many others around the world. Depression is something that society does not seem to handle that well. So many people are suffering and have no outlet and resort to suicide as a final result in dealing with the pain. This should not be to solution and can be avoided if we can learn to understand this disease more.
Kate Spade on the outside, lived a charmed life, but obviously was hurting on the inside. So many millions of people are facing the same thing and resort to suicide. We just don’t hear about them because they are not world famous. I implore you to look around and learn more about the signals and signs of someone going through depression.
If we all understood this silent disease and did not have a stigma that is attached to it, more people would be more inclined to get help and seek treatment. When you are experiencing deep dark thoughts and think that there is no way out, talk to someone. Look around and see if you have friends that are depressed and struggling with something. Let them know that you care for them and are there for them.
Sometimes talking about a hopeless situation can make you feel better. Also, seeking medical help from a doctor, if you are having suicidal thoughts is a great way to cope. It is not bad to admit feelings of depression. It is bad to let the feelings stay inside and linger. Talk to loved ones that you feel may be depressed. Let them know that they are not alone and that you love them, unconditionally.
